Securely mount your Gazelle tent, ROAM Drifter, etc. Quick-deploy tents like the Shiftpod, Gazelle, ROAM Drifter, and the Overland-ish tent are one of our favorite ways to swiftly set up camp. However, they are very difficult to stow, and as we often say here at AAL, “Everything is a tradeoff”. The large size allows them to be set up very quickly, but being so large means they usually only fit crammed in a trailer or strapped outside on most SUVs and trucks. To make things even more complicated, they get crammed into their carrying bags, meaning when you strap one down, the straps inevitably loosen when the fabric compresses within the bag during transport. For this reason, these tents often end up sliding around and damaging their bags and the mounting surface. Enter the “Sleeper Keeper”, as so elegantly named by redbeard5 in a recent Instagram naming contest. Our Sleeper Keeper is manufactured from 5052 aluminum for corrosion resistance and weight savings. Simply run a ratchet strap or cam buckle strap through the middle of the mount to secure the tent to the mount.
