1930 C. F. Martin T-17 Tiple Mahogany w/ Chipboard Case

Description For your kind consideration is this vintage C. F. Martin T-17 Tiple with a natural lacquer finish from 1930. It’s in overall great condition with modest play wear, including marks along the lower treble bout edge and back and some wear to the finish on the top as one would expect on a nearly 100 year old folk instrument. This North American style tiple was introduced by C. F. Martin in 1919 and is a 10-string version of the soprano-style guitars that had been in use since the 1700s. This T-17 model was built in Martin’s Nazareth, PA factory in 1930 based on the serial number. It features a mahogany body with a rosewood bridge and mahogany neck fitted with a rosewood fingerboard and ebony nut. This 1930s model has an X-braced top that is slightly more sturdy than the fan-braced models from the 1920s. The tuners all function well and the buttons are all intact. It’s not every day you come across a pre-war tiple in such good playing condition and this one is a joy to play. It includes what looks to be a period correct chipboard case that does have a broken handle but is safe for storage.
