The Detroit Dark Red Beet, also known as beetroot or blood turnip, are uniform in shape and flavor. Grows well in cool Spring weather, and rarely have problems with pests. In the event pests invade, easily control them with a homemade insecticidal soap mixture. These dark red beets are great bottled or pickled. Perfect for canning, cut up, blanch and freeze. Pick the leaves and toss them in a salad or stir fry. A rich source of iron, calcium, and vitamins A, B1, B2, C and Niacin. Growing these beets will thrive in both heat and cold climates, making them a great root vegetable to have in your garden.
