M.A.S.S. – Modular Adaptable Storage System This is the main component of our Jeep JL overland product line. This is the base platform to our M.A.S.S. system. It is made out of 1/8″ 5052 aluminum and is laser cut for extreme precision. We hold a repeatable .005″ tolerance on all cuts for this platform. NOTE: This version of the M.A.S.S. platform will ONLY fit the JLU (4 Door) or the JL 2-Door with the seats removed. Important: Pattern Explanation To make sure your new MASS System is flexible, scalable, and able to meet your changing needs for years to come, our system is built on a standard pattern. Staying flexible allows you to easily change the arrangement or mix of components in your vehicle based on the needs at the time. Most of the JL’s get the same platform which is the (6X4) pattern. However the 4XE, due to the battery compartment, gets a slightly smaller platform and an abbreviated (6X3) pattern. See below for the pattern configuration for the different JL models. We build our system focusing on two “columns”; a driver’s side column and a passenger side column to mount our modules. However, the pattern is consistent throughout the platform, meaning that you are able to move the modules where you want them. Important: the pattern on the floor is not the pattern that will work all the way “up” as you stack your modules. You need to keep in mind the angle of the rear seat. For example, in the JL’s, the 6×4 pattern will work for the bottom modules (ex. Flat Slide (6×4), Flip’n Slide (6×4), etc.). However, for the drawers, you will want to choose the 6×3 versions. The 6×3 is not as “deep” and provides room for the seat angle. Examples are below. HD MASS Connectors This version of the MASS Platform uses our HD MASS Connectors to attach your modules (sliders, drawers, etc.) to the platform. The platform does not include HD MASS Connectors Shop HD MASS Connectors Non-4XE Models Lets start out by explaining the green bubble with the question mark in the diagram to the right. The cutout identified by the green arrow is “off pattern”. That means any module built to use that cutout is JL-specific. The only module we have for the JL that utilizes this column is the JL Slightly Wider Slider. This module is built to utilize every inch of space available and is JL-specific for this reason. For the non-4XE models, we work with a pattern of 6×4 for each column. That is the pattern that is built into the platform. That means your base component can utilize the 6×4 pattern. Some examples of the base components are below. Fridge Slider (6×4) Flat Slide (6×4) Flip’n Slide (6×4) JL Slightly Wider Slider You can also use the “normal” 6×3 modules – examples below. These modules can extend above the height of the rear seats due to the clearance provided by the smaller platform utilization. Flat Slide (6×3) 6 Inch Drawer (6×3) 4 Inch Drawer (6×3) 3 Inch Drawer (6×3) 4XE Platform Due to the battery compartment of the 4XE, the available space is slightly less than the non-4XE models. For this reason, we utilize the 6×3 pattern. That means any of the 6×3 modules are well suited for your base module. Examples of the proper base modules are: Flat Slide (6×3) 6 Inch Drawer (6×3) 4 Inch Drawer (6×3) 3 Inch Drawer (6×3) More coming soon… Secured Cargo Platform This platform is extremely functional as a standalone product. It is very helpful in securing items in the cargo area. It is also extremely light weight and properly supported underneath using the three fabricated support beams. Connects to the Jeep JLU using the six existing threaded bungs in the body. Bolt heads are recessed to ensure a smooth loading and unloading surface. Standard L-Track Pattern The pattern cut into the platform is the standard L-Track pattern. This means that most off the shelf L-Track connectors work with this platform. We offer several connector options for tie down hooks, threaded studs, etc. The rows and columns of the connector pattern is specifically built to attach our M.A.S.S. platform accessories. Photo Gallery 2 Door Jeep JL Install In the 2 door Jeep JL, the frontmost two holes used for the platform must have holes drilled in the top layer of the sheet metal. In their infinite wisdom, Jeep left the threaded bungs in the body, but covered them up with a thin layer of sheet metal. So, all you need to do is lay out your two rear rails, attach the platform parts, and then mark where the front holes are for the frontmost support rail. Then, just drill through the top layer of the body sheet metal to reveal the threaded bung underneath. Jeep, if you’re listening, give us access to the threaded inserts!!!
